THE VENETIAN GROUP, 30 years of hits and counting

VMG’s marketing division exemplifies a new avenue of creativity, primarily focused on innovative marketing, sales and promotion strategies in the music business servicing independent artists and boutique music labels.

VMG planned, setup and was the nucleus of the great team that implemented the Marketing Plan resulting in the 2010-2011 Developing Artist Story of the Year: Prince Royce. VMG helped Royce reach 5X RIAA Platinum sales status and a Grammy Nomination. The album hit the #1 position in Latin Album Sales on 4 occasions and in April 2012 Royce debuted #1 with his sophomore album on the Latin Album Charts and in #16 on the U.S. Top 200 Albums, an unprecedented achievement for Prince Royce, 22 at the time. Today, Prince Royce has won and received countless awards and accolades throughout the world.

VMG was also involved in the planning, setup and executed the Marketing campaign for successful artists such as; Fuego, Cultura Profética, Omega, Sie7e, Los Temerarios and Mexico’s startup Independent Label: Discos Sabinas (currently named Remex Music) with a roster of artists such as Banda MS, Banda La Trakalosa De Monterrey, Cardenales de Nuevo León, and among many others.


Jeff is recognized as one of the most talented and effective Senior Executives in the music industry. His involvement and leadership have been instrumental in the expansion and growth of multinational music companies, where he has managed to lead those companies at the #1 positions in the industry.

He was Director, Vice President and Executive Vice President of companies such as: Capitol/EMI Latin/SBK, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Latin Entertainment, Disa Records, Univision Music Group and Crescent Moon, the latter owned by the icon, Emilio Estefan.

Jeff has been involved in sales, promotions and marketing of established artists and in the development of new acts and has been a key factor in the successful careers of Chayanne, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Selena, Jon Secada, Alejandro Fernandez, Son By Four, Elvis Crespo, Carlos Vives, Paulina Rubio, Jaci Velasquez, Ednita Nazario, Ana Gabriel, Montez de Durango, Marco Antonio Solis, Prince Royce, Jencarlos Canela, Los Temerarios and Victor Manuelle, to name a few. Due to the successes and his knowledge in creating effective strategies to achieve unprecedented sales he has received numerous sales and marketing awards and many accolades during his career.

In 1986 he came to Capitol Records as Credit Manager where his solid work produced immediate results. Jeff was then promoted and transferred to the newly established EMI Latin/Capitol Records music label as National Sales Director in Los Angeles, becoming one of the founding employees. In this position, he created and developed new strategies to lead EMI Latin to huge growth in all genres of Latin music within a short time, EMI Latin/Capitol was recognized with the prestigious award from Billboard Magazine, as the music industry’s “Latin Music Distribution Company of the Year” in 1996. EMI Latin and its image of excellence transcended the Latin music industry, while Jeff was recognized as one if the most talented and effective executives in the business.

In 1997 Sony Music underwent significant changes and wanted to improve its image, sales and market share in the industry and Jeff was brought to the company and named Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Distribution. In less than a year, he managed to carry Sony Music, from the #3 position in he market share to the #1 position in the U.S. Latin music market and managed to maintain that position for 6 consecutive years.
He was part of the industry transformation of “crossing over” artists to the general market that included Latin music icons Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Elvis Crespo, Son by Four and Jennifer Lopez.

He continued his professional growth coming to Disa Records, a Mexican independent label out of Monterrey, Mexico. Once again, in just a few months, sales leaped to astronomical levels, making it the main label in Regional Mexican music, rising to the top of the Billboard Charts, quadrupling its sales, while creating an image for Disa Records on the same level and caliber as WEA Latina, Fonovisa/Univision and EMI/Televisa. He was involved and in the forefront of the musical phenomenon “Duranguense” (music from the state of Durango, Mexico) in the U.S. Again, his planning and marketing created the first huge hit of that new musical phenomenon, Montez de Durango.

Disa merged into Univision Music Group, and Jeff moved to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Group where they maintained an unprecedented 37% industry market share. 3 years later they were absorbed by Universal Music Latin, and Jeff became the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In 2008 he decided to establish his own Consulting Company, Venetian Marketing Group: specifically dedicated to independent and boutique music labels and focusing on Consulting, Planning, Sales and Marketing. It did not take long to have the most remarkable success stories in the Latin music industry with artists like Luis Enrique, Jencarlos Canela, Prince Royce, Yomo, Cultura Profetica, Fuego, Sie7e, Los Temerarios, and many more. Jeff Young continues to set new standards and his achievements continue to make history in the Latin Music Business.
